Dr. Middleton has served as a urologist for 35 years, and he established Middleton Urological Associates with his brother before being recruited by the medical college to be on staff and teach; he has been teaching for the last 20 years. Prompted by a long-standing desire to follow in his father’s footsteps and journey into a career path in urology, Dr. Middleton has ventured forth into the professional field and continued a legacy by providing comprehensive and state of the art care to his patients. He took a three-year sabbatical leave from 2005 to 2008 for the mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in British Columbia.
Dr. Middleton currently teaches urology residents at the clinical level. He is in charge of scrubbing in surgery and in clinic, overseeing their residency programs, attending conferences with residents, and working with the medical school staff. Dr. Middleton earned a Bachelor of Science from The University of Utah, and an MD from Weill Cornell Medical College; he completed his residency in urology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and past president of the Salt Lake City Medical Association and the Utah Medical Association and the Western Section of the American Urological Association. Dr. Middleton was also elected a delegate for urology by the American Medical Association, voted to the Emeritus Alumni Board in 2012, and granted a Distinguished Service Award by the American Urologist Association.
