With 23 years of professional experience in education, Ms. Ioane has spent the last nine as a language arts and literature teacher at Ka’Umeke Ka’eo Hawaiian Immersion Public Charter School. Utilizing her previous experience at one of the original Hawaiian immersion schools, she emphasizes the rich history of Hawaii and its culture into her English lessons. She also integrates Hawaii’s varied geography into her lessons through out-of-classroom excursions. Honored in 2006 with the Hawaiian Educator of the Year Award, Ms. Ioane maintains her expertise in Hawaiian education through her memberships with the Hawaiian Education Association, the National Education Association and the International Reading Association. A member of the strategic planning committee of her school, she hopes to expand the school to include middle school grades and locate new facilities to support the continued growth of the school.
