CHICAGO, IL, March 14, 2012, Dana Stafford-Menefee, MA, School Counselor at Shoesmith Elementary School, a part of the Chicago Public School system, has been recognized by Elite American Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in counseling.
A professional School Counselor with the Chicago Board of Education, Ms. Stafford-Menefee has worked with at-risk youth for over 20 years. She has also served as a teacher for the past two decades for students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades, actively engaging them with literature and introducing them to various literary collections. In her capacity, she strives to take at-risk students to a different level of education, and in efforts to reach and help a greater population of students, she provides intuitive counseling services and perceptive insight. She has been honored with an award for 25 Years of Humanitarian Service by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and inducted into Madison Who’s Who; she is also a recipient of the Chicago State University Graduate Division Honors Award.
Ms. Stafford-Menefee remains abreast of trends and developments in education and counseling as a member of the Illinois Counseling Association, and she attributes her professional success to sheer compassion, drive, determination and a sincere will to help those that are less fortunate. In the near future, she intends to become an assistant principal, as she feels that the position would enable her to reach out to and help more students.
