Torrance, California | November 17, 2010 | Deborah Lynn Galyardt, Teacher and Tennis Coach at Torrance Unified School District, has been recognized by Elite American Educators for her dedication, achievements, and leadership in Social Science education.
As a social science teacher, Ms. Galyardt teaches her classes, conducts poll workers programs, chaperones educational trips to the Supreme Court, and introduces her students to the critical world of the State Department. As a teacher and a coach, Ms. Galyardt is rewarded as she watches the success of her underachieving students as they realize they can achieve their goals. With over 16 years experience, Ms. Galyardt attributes her success to being a people person and her methods of teaching; providing inspirational lectures. She enjoys the opportunity to help children learn and strives to help every student reach their potential through individualized learning plans. Dedicated to encouraging her students to not only learn but to experience life, Ms. Galyardt has escorted students to the last two presidential inaugurations.
A trained chef, Ms. Galyardt has taught culinary arts and also owned a French restaurant. An alumnus of the Torrance Unified School District, she has had the opportunity to teach all three of her children in her classroom throughout the years. She takes a unique approach to teaching by individualizing lessons and taking the time to understand and respect the age group of the students she teaches. She never talks down to any student and tries to relate her lectures and teachings to each student’s individual learning level. She advises other people in her field to be patient with their students, to organize themselves and establish a routine for students to follow. In order to create a sound structure you need to fortify the foundation.
Ms. Galyardt earned a Master of Education from Grand Canyon University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco. She hopes to one day attend law school and specialize in law for teachers, with the hopes to eventually establish a small practice and teach at the University of San Francisco.
