The director and teacher of Your Reading Connection, Dr. Roettger attributes her success to the support and motivation that she received from her father and her husband. Her day-to-day responsibilities include instructing students in grades one through 12 on writing and reading silently and outloud, working with students on an individual basis, assessing students’ progress, and meeting with students’ parents. As an educator, her greatest satisfaction comes when she sees a child who is totally lost finally understand, when the “light bulb” goes off and everything becomes clear.

Dr. Roettger is the former president of the Iowa Reading Association and the International Reading Association. In 1972, she earned a Ph.D. in education, with a concentration in educational psychology, at The University of Iowa. Dr. Roettger attributes her success in the industry to her enjoyment of her career and that she takes the necessary steps to understand each child individually.
