Hartford, Connecticut | October 25, 2010 | Dr. Allen F. Chapman, a retired Professor from Rensselaer at Hartford, has been recognized by Elite American Educators for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education.

Dr. Chapman enjoyed a successful 30-year career in higher education. A respected authority on finance management, he spent 20 years as a professor and 10 years as a dean. At Rensselaer at Hartford, where he concluded his career, he was in charge of hiring faculty, improving programs, and supporting the development of new programs. Dr. Chapman attributes his success and longevity to his ability to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way and to the discipline and learning skills that he acquired while serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy. To him the greatest part of being an educator was the relationships he was able to build with his students. Dr. Chapman believes if you challenge your students, relate to them and keep an open-mind, you will be successful in educating them.

An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Dr. Chapman completed his Doctorate in Finance in 1965. In his spare time he enjoys volunteering at his local Second Congregational church and before his wife passed on June 18, 2010, he enjoyed travelling the world with her and sharing their love for classical music.
