He is able to help each student grow academically and strives to develop an enthusiasm for psychology. Dr. Sasaki appreciates the creative faculty he has the opportunity to work with and they all attempt to develop new programs for students to help them academically. For all his hard work and dedication, Dr. Sasaki values the possibility to work in an environment where he is surrounded by students. Each student’s youth and endless possibilities helps Dr. Sasaki put his achievements and goals into perspective and encourages him to maintain a youthful look at life.

An expert in academic instruction, experimental psychology, ergonomics, human factors, industrial and organizational psychology, statistics, and research methods, Dr. Sasaki has dedicated nearly four decades to psychology in both education and practice. He has served in a variety of academic positions and faculty leadership positions and brings unique qualities to any position he holds. Dr. Sasaki attributes his success to trust, openness, realization and interdependence (TORI). He has also been able to achieve success because he maintains open communication with his students; he makes them feel part of a team, and never allows egos to get in the way of progress. Dr. Sasaki advises his students and others in his profession to maintain a youthful spirit and always be open and true to yourself.

A graduate of Stanford University, Dr. Sasaki earned a Ph.D. in psychology in 1971. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1962 from Willamette University where he graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Sasaki retains affiliations with the New York Academy of Sciences and Western Psychological Association. In his spare time he reads the American Psychologist to remain abreast on current topics and industry related advancements. Dr. Sasaki has been honored with various awards throughout his career, but his greatest achievement to date was winning the 2006 President’s Medal, in which he was one of only four faculty members to ever receive such an honor.
