FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, May 15, 2012, Hermie J. Speckels, Special Educator for Broward County Public Schools, has been recognized by Elite American Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in special needs instruction.
Ms. Speckels has served as a special education teacher for the last 30 years. She currently works with students coping with disabilities that range from mild to severe in gravity. When working with students, Ms. Speckels provides lessons in mathematics, reading, language arts, social studies and science. She also conducts research so as to better implement technology in special needs classes. For her exceptional efforts, she has received honors and accolades over the course of a career that has spanned more than three decades, including a nomination for an Environmental Stewardship by Broward County Public Schools.
In recognizing that her success has stemmed from her dedication to her special needs students, and the knowledge she gained by observing the special education policies, systems and students in China, Ms. Speckels continues to strive for excellence in her every endeavor. She became involved in her profession through the influence of her sibling who has a learning disability. She received a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Central Connecticut State University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Jones International University. She remains abreast of trends and developments as a member of the Broward Teachers Union, a National Association of Special Education Teachers, and the National Education Association.
