Title: Dean of Business Administration (Retired)
Company: Baker College
Location: Allen Park, MI
Dr. James L. Cameron is the former Dean of Business Administration for Baker College. Prior to his retirement, Dr. Cameron handled an array of tasks encompassing the overall conveyance of distinction and excellence of the school’s faculty, outstanding academic programs, remarkably dedicated staff and talented students. He was responsible for evaluating instructors, managing the curriculum, teaching classes on human resources, introduction to business, marketing, and conflict management, and taking part in community service efforts. Furthermore, Dr. Cameron, who holds a sophisticated skill set in organizational management, resolutions and conflict management, coordinated a Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program, which provides free tax preparation services to those earning less than $50,000. He is currently running this program, and he offers tax preparation services to people throughout his community on a voluntary basis. He was inspired to become an academic dean by the knowledge and experience he gained while pursuing a teaching career, which led him down a conduit as a member of the Michigan State Police, where he was a trainer for state troopers due to the lack of teaching jobs available. After retiring from his police training position in 2003, he followed his original dream of becoming an educator at the higher education level.
