Santa Ana, CA, March 18, 2011, Jim Kolb, Dance Chair, Director of the Commercial Dance Department and Educator at Orange County High School of Arts, has been recognized by Elite American Educators, for dedication, achievements and leadership in dance education.

With 42 years of professional experience, Mr. Kolb has dedicated his life to the art of dance and dance education. He has achieved such an enduring career as a result of his strong work ethic and experience as a professional dancer for more than 20 years. In the early 1970s, Mr. Kolb joined Gus Giordano’s dance company in Chicago and became the lead male dancer through hard work. He also had the pleasure of being the assistant choreographer of Claude Thompson, which enabled him to produce personal productions for George Chakaris, Sylvie Vartan and Pia Zadora.

Currently, Mr. Kolb lends this experience to the Orange County High School of Arts as its dance chair and director of the commercial dance department. For the past 12 years, he has overseen the international and classical contemporary dance departments, and the 15-person faculty. On a daily basis, he conducts managerial duties that include budgeting and staffing matters, and curriculum design and implementation. Utilizing a master’s degree in dance education, he also teaches ballet, tap, modern and jazz dancing to the 200 students enrolled in the conservatory program. He also provides counseling services for college placements and letters of recommendation.

Mr. Kolb intends to finalize his career and retire in the near future.
