A theater enthusiast, June Stern spent her 36-year-long professional career infusing zest and creativity into her classroom. Now retired, her responsibilities included teaching kindergarteners through fifth-grade students, serving as grade chairwoman, sitting on the textbook selection committee, and developing interim reports. Impassioned and dedicated, she spearheaded winter musical programs focused on world cultures and the environment, numerous thanksgiving food drives, and UNICEF, black history and brotherhood initiatives. Likewise, Ms. Stern coordinated the Federal Title 9 program, the safety patrol program, and the student government association. Accrediting her success to her deep curiosity of life, Ms. Stern’s experiences around the world defined her career and made for an inspiring impact on the field of education.
