With more than a decade of experience in higher education, Dr. Phillips attributes her success to her hard work and perseverance. Driven by her passion for understanding human behavior, she completed a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Illinois before continuing on to earn a Ph.D. in business and organizational behavior at Stanford University. Dr. Phillips now brings her high level of expertise to Columbia University, having been named its Paul Calello Professor of Leadership and Ethics, where she works with the Center on the Science of Diversity to develop and disseminate important research on the influence of diversity on society at the Bernstein Center for Leadership and Ethics.

For her work, Dr. Phillips has garnered many awards, including the State Farm Foundation’s Dissertation Proposal Award, and the Academy of Management’s Best Paper and International Association of Conflict Management’s best paper awards. A former board member of the Trinity Higher Education Corporation, she maintains memberships with the Academy of Management, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, INGroup and the American Psychological Association.
