Marketa M.H. Harvey, MS, BS is a former biology and chemistry teacher at Divine Child High School. With a strong background in biology and chemistry, Ms. Harvey strives to motivate her students to achieve their academic goals by giving them an education that they need to succeed. She provides them with study guides and resource material on all lessons taught, and leads hands-on active laboratory sessions following scientific methods. Ms. Harvey conducts demonstrations, attends workshops, and mentors others. She also serves as an advisor to her students, and serves as the coordinator of the school’s science fair. She was recently named VIP of the Year in her field by Worldwide Who’s Who, and she was also named Science Teacher of the Year for the State of Michigan in 2003. Ms. Harvey is a four-time recipient of the Detroit Edison Science Teacher Award. During Ms. Harvey’s tenure as science fair coordinator, Divine Child High School had ten grand prize winners, three in the school’s first group project in 2001, and two grand prize winners in 2000 and 2002. Mrs. Harvey believes the science fair experience teaches teenagers to solve problems and encourages them to venture into the unknown.
