Fischman, Ph.D., CPA has been chair of the Department of Accounting, Taxation & Law at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University for 15 years. She has been on staff at LIU for 30+ years and was previously Director of the Center for Accounting & Tax Education for many years. During her professional career, Dr. Fischman was Chief Accountant Investigator-Rackets Office of the Queens District Attorney and a member of the Chancellors Commission Against Discrimination in Education. She has many years of practice in corporate, not-for-profit and governmental accounting.

Dr. Fischman is a licensed CPA in New York State. he is currently President of the Brooklyn Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and has served as chair of the Higher Education Committee of the NYSSCPAs, which honored her with the Educator of the Year Award. In 1995, Dr. Fischman also received the Society’s Emanual Saxe Award as the “Outstanding CPA in Education.” She is President-Elect of the New York Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Federal Credit Union #1532 and Past President of the New York Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants.

Dr. Fischman received her BS & MS degrees from the City University of New York (formerly Downtown City College, now known as Baruch) and earned her Ph.D. at New York University. Her biography appears in the 2002-2003 “Who’s Who of American Women”, the 2002 “Who’s Who in America” and the 2002 “Who’s Who in the World.”
