Myrna L. Fischman, Ph.D., CPA is the Chairwoman of the Department of Accounting, Taxation and Law at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University. A respected accounting specialist, Dr. Fischman is currently responsible for overseeing the administrative duties of the department, and maintaining the standard of high quality that has long been maintained throughout the institute of higher education. She is proud to have amassed nearly four decades of professional experience, and in acknowledging her accomplishments, she feels that she has been able to successfully render excellent direction because she maintains a sense of humor, and a solid work ethic was instilled in her by her mother and corporate controllers.

The award-winning accounting professional has made valuable contributions to the field of education over the course of a successful career that has spanned more than 37 years. Her outstanding efforts earned for her the Educator of the Year Award, as granted by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Dr. Fischman pinpoints the highlight of her career as her becoming a certified public accountant, and receiving the illustrious Educator of the Year Award. She received a Ph.D. in Accounting from New York University.

Dr. Fischman is a board member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, former president of the Brooklyn Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and former president of the New York Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. Her favorite mantra is: “The harder you work, the luckier you get.” She would like to dedicate this recognition to the memory of her parents, Sally and Isadore Fischman.
