Sandra M. Latourelle is a Lecturer at SUNY Plattsburgh who specializes in molecular biology, genetics and biotechnology. She currently offers insight to others by instructing biology and genetics to undergraduate students and teaching science methods. Ms. Latourelle offers workshops to both teachers and students. She retired from the public school system after 25 years of service. She is also a coordinating biology mentor for professionals in the state of New York. She holds a wealth of experience and knowledge after having honed a finely tuned skill set throughout the course of a 41-year spanning career. She feels that she has been able to achieve high levels of success due to sheer dedication and persistence. She is a recipient of a number of awards, which have included the Fredericka Hollister Professional Educators Award as granted by Delta Kappa Gamma in 2008, the Outstanding Biotechnology Educator Award as granted by the National Association of Biology Teachers in 2007, and the National Biology Teacher Award. Ms. Latourelle feels that the highlight of her career was receiving the New York State Outstanding Biology Educator of the Year Award from the National Association of Biology Teachers in 1995.
