GREENVILLE, SC, February 8, 2012, Diane Thomas, Ed.S., MA, Director of Distance Education at Greenville Technical College, has been recognized by Elite American Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in distance learning administration.
With more than 32 years of professional experience under her belt, Ms. Thomas shines as a luminary in her field. She embraces an ever-emergent skill set in information technology, program development and training, and she is currently responsible for overseeing the academic program for distance education at Greenville Technical College. Additionally, Ms. Thomas manages 25 direct reports from within each department, and supervises the instructional developers, website designer, information technology consultants, help desk staff, academic advisors, and certified proctors in the testing center.
Ms. Thomas has been employed at Greenville Technical College since July of 1992. Prior to teaching at Greenville Technical College, she was a computer systems analyst for DHEC and the State Budget and Control Board, Columbia SC. In 1996, the college implemented an online program and she was one of the first instructors to develop and teach one of the six courses for non-traditional learning. Ms. Thomas was born in Greenwood County and grew up in a small town of Ware Shoals, SC. Her husband is originally from Philadelphia, PA, and they have been married for 25 years. He works for International Paper.
