Shirley Buttram is a coordinator of developmental studies for Northeast Alabama Community College. An expert in student relations, she is responsible for offering support and motivation to facilitate the needs of students and unmask their potential for success in the classroom. A graduate of Jacksonville State University, Ms. Buttram holds a Bachelor of Science degree, which she earned prior to retaining a Master of Arts degree, and an educational specialist degree, from the University of Alabama. To complement her educational foundation, she pursued and received a developmental educational specialist certificate from Appalachian State University. Ms. Buttram’s keen awareness has led her to meet with success in her field and earn various accolades including the title of Most Influential Teacher, and ALADE president in 2010. Moreover, her contributions have led her to spearhead a state-recognized Outstanding Developmental Education Program, and earn two certificates of achievement from the Advanced Development Education Specialist Program.
