During her career in higher education, Ms. Walker taught undergraduate social work students at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She also shared her experience in social work, sociology and criminal justice as a faculty adviser and mentor program adviser for the social work club and BASICS, respectively. Now retired, she has an indepedent clinical practice in social work with a focus on counseling adult cargivers of their aging parents and in-laws, supervision of LMSW and LBSW social workers toward their IPR recognition in Texas, and presenter of Caregiver Education Seminars. In 2006, she was recognized by the Texas chapter of the National Association of Social Workers with the Social Worker of the Year Award. In 2009, she was selected by her University of Mary Hardin-Baylor faculty as their Piper Professor, a recognition for excellence in teaching. Recently, Ms. Walker received the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Central Counties branch of the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
