North Las Vegas, Nevada | October 20, 2010 | Yvonne Scott, a track and field coach at the University of Nevada, has been recognized by Elite American Educators. As the head coach of the women’s track and field team, Ms. Scott oversees the teams’ academic grades, schedules events, organizes fundraisers, and manages the teams’ budget. She attended the University of Colorado where earned a Bachelor of Science in sociology and ethnic studies, and then went on to earn a Master of Science in sports administration from the University of Nevada in 2010. Ms. Scott is a member of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In 1996, while attending the University of Colorado, she broke the school record in the 100 meter hurdles, that same year she was an athlete on the United States Track & Field team at the Olympics and again in 2000. As an athlete, she understands her students’ passion for the sport, and as a coach, enjoys helping them in their development and bringing them to the next level. Ms. Scott intends to continue helping young students develop their abilities and hopes to build her program to be nationally ranked.
