Inspired by her mother, who taught her to embrace teaching and encouraged her work with at-risk/disciplinary students, Stephanie Ratts Grissom pursued a career in the education field. She has been involved with education for the past 20 years and currently serves as a teacher at Killeen Independent School District. An expert in the subjects of English and psychology, Ms. Ratts Grissom is tasked with teaching social skills and developmental instruction to at-risk youths, and handling regular English and psychology curriculum for grades nine-12. Ms. Ratts Grissom is adored by her students and well respected by her colleagues. She has been recognized for her stellar work on numerous occasions, including winning the KISD Star Teacher Award twice and being included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers twice. Ms. Ratts Grissom believes that her ability to excel in the field of education is due to the joy she has of seeing her students succeed. She feels privileged to play a role in molding and shaping students into young adults and helping them not only understand the material, but also themselves. Ms. Ratts Grissom earned a Bachelor of Arts, and holds a elementary education–professional certificate (K-8), secondary education–professional certificate (6-12), secondary English certificate (grades 6-12), secondary psychology certificate (grades 6-12), and general special education certificate (all-levels, grades k-12).
