Carol L. Alisesky dedicated 33 years of service to the education field, teaching and mentoring students, before retiring. She last served as a special education teacher with Intermediate Unit 1, an educational agency that provides support and services to students, parents, school administrators, educators and the community. Ms. Alisesky worked for Intermediate Unit 1 for 25 years and was well-respected for her positive attitude and dedication to her job. An expert in early childhood development and special education, she was responsible for teaching special education, promoting early childhood development and autism, and aiding physically challenged individuals with daily living activities. Ms. Alisesky believes she excelled in this area of education because she has a daughter with special needs and she drew inspiration from her. She says that having a child with special needs gave her an insight into the families and children with whom she worked with. Ms. Alisesky feels privileged to have been able to learn from her students and watch them achieve their goals. She is very grateful for the opportunities she has experienced throughout her career.
