CROSS JUNCTION, VA, February 26, 2014, Dr. Hazel Green Pflueger, retired professor of health, physical education and sociology at Montgomery College, has been recognized by Elite American Educators for dedication, leadership and achievements in higher education.Since she was in elementary school, Dr. Pflueger knew she wanted to be a teacher. She dedicated 35 years of service to the field, and was well respected by her students and colleagues. Dr. Pflueger retired from Montgomery College after more than two and a half decades of service. In her role, she taught various courses, and mentored students. Dr. Pflueger also served as the chairman of the health and physical education department at Montgomery College, where she revamped the curriculum. For her exceptional work, Dr. Pflueger was honored with Certificates of Appreciation and the Certificate of Dedication from Montgomery College.Dr. Pflueger attributes her success to being a hard worker and having a sincere interest in sociology. She also credits the great mentors she had throughout her career to her success. Dr. Pflueger earned a Ph.D. in the kinesiology and sociology of sport at the University of Maryland, a Master of Education, with a concentration in physical education, and a Bachelor of Science in physical education at Southern Methodist University.Dr. Pflueger is a happy retiree whose objective is to stay healthy, enjoy her friends and family and complete a book on her ancestor who was a Hessian soldier and came to America in 1776 to fight for the British.
