Florissant, MO, July 8, 2014, Dawn Renee Blohm, BS, MEd, Special Education Teacher at Special School District, Northview High School, has been recognized by Elite American Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in special education.
Ms. Blohm was inspired by her parents’ friend, who had a child with special needs. She developed an interest to help other children with similar disabilities and pursued a career in the education field 32 years ago. Her knowledge has built tremendously with all the experiences she goes through with her students. Ms. Blohm’s main focus is to make sure that all her students understand and comprehend all the lessons taught. An expert in working with students who experience severe development delays, she is responsible for caring for students, overseeing welfare programs, preparing lessons, and following the curriculum.
She attributes her success to caring for all her students, and liking her job. Her excitement lies in helping all of her students succeed. Looking toward the future, Ms. Blohm will be focusing on building herself professionally. She wants to be part of administration, but continue working as a teacher.
Ms. Blohm earned a Master of Education, with a concentration in adapted physical education and recreation, at the University of Missouri. She keeps abreast of changes in her field through her affiliation with the Missouri National Education Association.
