After taking psychology courses at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Anthony-Williams found that she loved the profession and pursued a career in the field. She has garnered 15 years of experience and has served as a professor at the City University of New York’s Medgar Evers College, Craven Community College, Carteret Community College and has been serving at The Arts Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division (AIOPD) for the past three years. In the classroom, Dr. Anthony-Williams continually strives, through body language, tone of voice and hand gestures, to keep students engaged, alert, and enthusiastic about learning. Dr. Anthony-Williams gets great satisfaction out of seeing her students’ level of thinking, understanding, and ability to express themselves through discussion and writing increase from an F or C level to a B or A level, or from a minimum level to a maximum level.
Dr. Anthony-Williams believes that her expectation that all her students will succeed separates her from other professionals in her industry. She advises, “Never give up on yourself, your goals, and your dreams.” Dr. Anthony-Williams attributes her success to her perseverance; she doesn’t let life’s ups and downs deter her. She is also grateful for the strong support of her family, especially her daughter, parents, and husband. Looking toward the future, she hopes to continue helping others achieve a greater level of understanding of psychological content and disciplines. She aspires to become an accomplished writer and professor. She also plans to have at least two nonprofit organizations that cater to orphans and children who have special educational needs.
