Gloria King has always had a passion for education, having devoted more than three decades to the field in a professional capacity. In her most recent post prior to her retirement, she served as a teacher at the Emerson School for Visual and Performing Arts. Ms. King spent a majority of her time teaching social studies and reading to students in sixth and ninth grade. She performed so well in her position that she was nominated for Teacher of the Year by the school’s principal.

A graduate of Perdue University, Ms. King earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1981. She went on to attain a Master of Arts in Reading from Indiana University Northwest in 1986. Ms. King is a member of the American Association of University Women, Phi Delta Kappa, and her local Lions Club. She is a past member of the Indiana State Reading Association and Alpha Kappa Alpha. Aside from her profession, Ms. King is active with St. Timothy Community Church.
