Ms. Paschal began teaching more than 35 years ago, starting out as a teacher’s aide. As a mathematics teacher, she focuses on preparing students in algebra and precalculus. Not only that, but she is involved as the coach of the school’s mathematics team and advising on books for publication. In addition, she coordinates the school’s university interscholastic league. Ms. Paschal likens her success in educating students from the support she received when she was in high school from her instructors. Mathematics is also connected to her hobbies, where she enjoys taking pictures of natural landscapes to capture evidence of mathematical functions as they are found in the real world.

Ms. Paschal started teaching in the San Angelo Independent School District a year after graduating from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and minor in biology in 1980. Throughout her career, she has received many distinctions, including a Worldwide Lifetime Achievement 2012-2013, a VIP of the Year 2011-2012, Teacher of the Year Award in 2000 and 2014 and featured in a Top 12 Educators of the Year calendar. Ms. Paschal sees no plans to slow down in the coming years, and endeavors to continue teaching at the school, sharing her knowledge with students and mentoring other teachers.
